I don't know about using the charm animal skill. I like the idea of more control over my animal, stay or attack, but I would also like more control over my henches too. I don't need Stephan or Little Thom to go rushing thru a mob to get to my target on the road below me.

this would give a little more control over the beastmaster's pet which is needed.

Removes the need for another bar like the hero ones to fill up your screen.
Also actually gives a use for the one skill in the game that never needs to be pressed (besides the one time taming i mean)

I like my pet, the Black Moa, but I don't find Ranger Pet's all that useful.

They die a lot and only attack what you are attacking. More and more I end up leaving the outpost without a pet but with more points in Marksmanship.

If only a ranger pet was equal to the desire of being able to rely on one.

Your pet, by default, does not attack until you issue a command in this fashion, allowing you to pull without your pet ruining it.

Easy and simple control with 1 button without having to painstakingly create a GUI for pets. Charm Animal just sits in your skillbar doing nothing. Why not give it a practical use that will make pet builds more viable? Perhaps we could rename it to "Animal Ally" or somesuch.

I have suggested this before, but not in its own thread. I know many people have suggested a whole new pet window to issue commands, but I really don't see that happening, as GUIs are a pain to impliment, whereas this requires much less work.

I think it's a winner.
Target Self, Use Charm: Pet attacks your target
Target Ally, Use Charm: Pet attacks ally's target
Target your already-charmed pet, Use Charm: Pet returns to you, Even when far away.
With that important revision,

[Edit: chichory, if you don't like the pet bars, resize the party window...right?]
Best regards,
Chris. Dratz

Signed but only if they rebalance pets when they do it. Currently they do ridiculous ammounts of damage, but are balanced because it can't be controlled in any reasonable way. This would remove the control problem, allowing them to be brought down to reasonable levels.

Now to have beast master weapons.... only skill tree that dont have any modefiers and weapons.
And a new skill i'd like to see.Pet attacks from half the casting range with a huge jump, target is knocked down and dased with damage something like unexpected strike with assasin.

Keep the same normal mechanic if the "charm animal" is not pressed, otherwise add these functions. Nice idea.

I love the idea. I would like to make an addition though if you were to charm wild animals. Make it so that you must have at least 3 ranks of beast mastery or so to charm a different animal in the area. I know in kamaden there is a group of like 8 flamingo's and I think it would be wrecking in an early area to charm all of them at once. *Phear the Flamingo Army*, This way if your lucky with a LvL20 Animal, you don't keep cappin them if they stay alive from your healing skills, IE. UW Spiders at most of the status.

I seriously doubt anet will make this change. While I love the idea..it would be more reasonable for anet to combine the Charm Animal and Comfort Animal into one skill so that it takes only one skill slot. This would then free up a skill slot for us to use one of the pet skills. They could however...allow you in options the choice to have your pet auto attack whatever your first shot hits or pause attack until the 2nd shot hits target.

This is how i imagine it would look..with an additional utility icon on your inventory screen and how the pet attack options would appear. The charm pet would be equiped like a weapon or a piece of armor is and could only be equiped if you are a ranger primary or secondary.
